Silverleaf

This massive shrub grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 120 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous thick, slanted stems covered in hard, cracked, dark green bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are very short and thin with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of large, spear shaped, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are silver and light purple, frail and smooth.

In mid-summer it produces a handful of giant, turquoise blossoms with 6 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like perfume.

In early autumn very large stiff, pointed fruits ripen. The waxy crimson skin is tough and bitter and savoury, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is sour and powdery. The light brown seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
