Vineclinger Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 64 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, angular trunk covered in wrinkled, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow-brown.
The large clumps of branches are very short and thin and are covered with very large amounts of large, wide leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are either peach, or gold with cream edges.
In early spring, it produces many balls of medium-sized, purple blossoms with fan-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like alcohol.
In late summer it produces tiny, triangular fruit. The crispy indigo skin is thin and edible when roasted; it is very bitter, and the slightly crunchy gold flesh is sweet and dry. The grey seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
