Cyanberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a slender, wonky trunk covered in thin, smooth, brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is burgundy-brown.
The small bunches of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are red at the bottom and cyan with olive zig-zags at the top.
In early spring, it produces thick bunches of small, white blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like rich perfume.
In early autumn it produces , stiff, pointed fruit. The sticky pink skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft copper flesh is bitter and syrupy. The vibrant yellow seeds are tiny and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
