Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 177 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has dozens of sturdy, straight stems covered in smooth, pine-coloured bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.
The branches are long and slender that and are covered with thick bunches of large, thick, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid turquoise or grey, with bright blue lines, robust and covered in fine hairs.
It produces thick bunches of giant, ashy red flowers with needle-like petals. They are hardy and have a powerful scent that smells like rotting meat. In early winter it forms tinycream, tough-shelled seeds.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
