Silverberry

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 171 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, angular trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, silver and white bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The tangled mess of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with very large amounts of rough, large, spear shaped leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are purple and olive.

In late summer it forms tiny, peach aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It grows well in the sun and full shade.
The sap causes severe allergic reactions.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
