Indigo Leaf Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 79 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several thick, curved stems covered in smooth, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of small, spear shaped, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid sky blue or indigo, with vibrant yellow lines, light and smooth.

In mid-summer it produces many medium-sized, vibrant yellow flowers with perforated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like bleach.


It is suitable for making paper
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
