Grayfruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is gray.

The branches are very long and thin and are covered with very large amounts of large, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are yellow with sky blue tips.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of tiny, ashy green blossoms with perforated petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like pepper.

In late autumn it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The leathery brown skin is peel-able and sweet and savoury, and the slightly crunchy gold flesh is bitter and salty and dry. The lime seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
Offering it in a bouquet is supposed to bring good luck.
