Golden Spined Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The very thin stem is gray-green, and is covered in thick bunches of rigid black spines. It has a curved, flat, grey trunk atop a slender clump of ridged, exposed roots. The branches are wide and yellow and are short and thin.

The wavy-edged, very thin leaves are cream and gold. They are robust, but take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 20 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with sky blue petals on the lower layer and white petals decorated with red dots on the inner layer. The central disk is caramel, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is made up of 7 petals in raised layers. It has an overpowering scent that smells like pineapple.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the black flesh is waxy, and the pale yellow sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

It comes in 7 varieties, each with a different petal colour.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
