Copperfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 59 feet (18.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 80 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, slanted trunk covered in ridged, silver bark, and inside, the flexible wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are very long and slender and are covered with small amounts of tiny, wide leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber or orange, with lilac edges.

In early spring, it produces a handful of tiny, lime blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like rainy days.

In late autumn it produces small, triangular fruit. The leathery olive skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft violet flesh is bitter and very dry. The vivid red seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
