Redfire Fern
Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its lime green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are wispy and straight, and split into numerous branching stems halfway up, and the huge, yellow-green leaves are very narrow and elongated with jagged edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.
Each stem splits 3 to 9 times; a single small flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are vivid red on the edges and red at the center. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 50 raised, narrow petals. They are sturdy.
It has a strong scent that smells like bonfire smoke, and it has copious amounts of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
It is suitable for making paper
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
