This yellow moss is commonly found blanketing small areas On trees, On rotten logs, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in large clumps, and is very hardy.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release millions of spores.

All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
