Purple Needle Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This giant tree grows up to 113 meters (370.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 362 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale yellow.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with very large amounts of covered in fine hairs, miniature, needle-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are pink and purple.

In late summer it forms tiny, bronze, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
